SPAZ is a recognized non-profit association operating in the southern suburbs of Athens (Athens First Decree No. 773/1987) based in Glyfada. It consists exclusively of volunteers and an elected 5-member Board of Directors and most expenses cover sterilizations and medical emergencies. SPAZ works locally, cooperates with the authorities and other associations as well as with residents with the common goal of controlling the stray animal population and encouraging responsible pet custody.
Since 1987, SPAZ members have neutered more than 24,000 dogs and cats.
We don’t take money from the state. Our revenue comes from subscriptions, donations, and various events. We are members of the Panhellenic Animal Welfare Federation (P.F.O.) and we are affiliated with RSPCA-UK.
We don’t have a shelter, doctor’s office or office. 90% of our resources cover medical expenses and keeping animals for adoption in pensions. We cooperate with 5 private veterinarians in the southern suburbs of Athens.
If you live in Glyfada and the surrounding areas and want to help stray animals, contact us to get to know each other and cooperate.
