The cultural association Animal Welfare of Komotini aims to defend and ensure the welfare of animals always in combination with man and the natural environment. Its members are people of all ages who have a common denominator, love for animals and nature.
Currently, our organization maintains a shelter that hosts around 400 dogs, while it takes care of the feeding, vaccination and neutering (in cooperation with the Municipality of Komotini) of all stray creatures living in the city of Komotini. The organization’s income comes only from donations.
From time to time we have been called upon to deal with difficult incidents of abuse and abandonment of animals by irresponsible owners.
Our support every time is the people who share the view that strays have been created primarily by the irresponsibility of man.
Our goals are:
- Informing the public about its legal obligations towards animals.
- Informing owners about their responsibilities towards their pets.
- The sterilization of all stray animals in the city.
- Ensuring the well-being and good coexistence of strays with humans.
- Full veterinary care for prevention, control and treatment of stray animal health problems.
- The effort to find families for the animals under our auspices.
