This Association was founded on the initiative of a group of animal lovers living in Argostol, with the cooperation of the Municipality of Kefalonia. The purpose of the association is to provide shelter and care for all stray animals that circulate in our city and need food, water and love. The name of our shelter is ark.
Our Association is recognized by the Court of First Instance of Kef/nia with its decision no. 88/16/6/2011 and registered in the book of associations of the Court of First Instance of Kefallinia with the number 582 on October 13, 2011.
Our Association was staffed by all of us who love and care for stray animals. Of course, none of this would have been a reality if the Municipality of Kefalonia had not warmly supported our effort by granting us our housing space. At the same time, the undivided contribution of the English community of the island, which has joined forces with us and contributes with its voluntary work and the provision of food, is invaluable.
In addition to providing undivided care and love, our Association takes care of the health care of strays and promotes a sterilization program in order to limit births and safeguard public health. At the same time, it promotes the social reintegration of animals into foster families and aims to inform and raise public awareness. In addition, our Association makes efforts to organize volunteer groups and programs for the care of animals.
We ask for the HELP and COOPERATION of Municipal Bodies, people, children and generally ALL ANIMAL LOVERS who are interested in supporting our effort. Our immediate priority is our cooperation with all Panhellenic Animal Welfare Organizations, International Bodies and animal lovers everywhere. Our intention is to participate in forums of international impact as well as to organize corresponding information days.
