SCARS is a recognized animal welfare association (no. 629/2015) and operates in the southern suburbs of Attica.
Who we are: We start as a group of volunteers with experience, love and respect for animals and their rights, in the urban environment. We are the neighbors, the colleagues, people next door who have our eyes and ears a little more open to the issue of stray animals.
What we are not: We are not a union made up of employees, but of volunteers. We have no shelters and no animal shelters. For us, the space of our home is the place where we try to help the emergencies that arise.
What are our goals:
To inform and sensitize as many people as we can about the sterilization of stray animals in the neighborhood, as it is the only safest and respectful way to control their overpopulation.
to raise awareness about incidents of abuse and violence towards animals.
to inform all interested parties about the legislative framework.
To spread animal welfare and the development of animal welfare feelings to children and adults.
to provide care, as far as our abilities allow, to stray animals in need.
To support, through our experience and cooperation with veterinarians, our fellow human beings to help and protect stray and dominant animals in their area.
How you can help:
donating a stray animal neutering (cost of a female cat 30 euros)
hosting a former stray looking for a home.
Offering some of your time, promoting information material as well as adoption ads on the internet and social media.
informing your friends about our action. Informing and informing more people can help us live better in our city, with our stray roommates.
